Swapsy: Share as QR Code

Share a contact as a QR code

Open Contacts (or the Phone app) and open the contact.
Tap Share Contact.
Scroll the list of actions and tap Show QR Code.
Tap Choose Details to pick what goes in, then let the other person scan the code with their camera. iPhone and Android cameras both read it.

The same action works for links in Safari, places in Maps, text you select, and calendar invites.

Your own card, one tap away

Set up My Card in the app once. Then show it from the Home Screen or Lock Screen widget, Control Center, the Action Button, or by saying "Show my card" to Siri.

Scan a QR code

In the app, tap Scan with Camera and point it at any QR code. You can open the link, copy what it says, share it, or show the code again full size.

You can also share a screenshot or photo to Swapsy and it finds the QR codes in it, for example to show a ticket or boarding pass at full size and brightness.

Questions

I can't see Show QR Code in the share sheet

Scroll to the bottom of the share sheet and tap Edit Actions, then turn on Show QR Code. You can also move it up to Favorites so it is always near the top.

Why isn't the contact photo in the code?

A photo is far bigger than a QR code can hold, so Swapsy always leaves it out. That keeps the code quick to scan.

Some details were left out

Very long cards are trimmed so they still scan easily: notes go first, then other details, social profiles, dates and addresses. A phone number is never left out automatically. Use Choose Details to decide yourself.

Does Swapsy send my contacts anywhere?

No. Every code is made on your iPhone. The app has no account, collects no data and makes no network connections. See the privacy policy.
